TAIKO COMMUNITY JAM 2025

TAIKO COMMUNITY JAM (April 5th & 6th, 2025), just drum pieces together! That's the simple core of what this event is about. It's meant to be an opportunity to simply drum the now well-known community pieces with players from other groups from all over Germany or even from all over Europe. It won't matter how long you've been drumming or how good you are, anyone who can drum through a piece will be allowed to take part.

But which pieces will be played? The participants decide this online in advance. Every registered drummer can state the pieces they would like to play at the event. After evaluating all suggestions, taking into account certain conditions such as the composer's permission or the minimum number of players, a program is created that regulates the timing. Of course, pieces that are not very well known or are completely unknown can also be suggested, because preparation material in the form of videos and notations will be made available for all pieces as early as possible. This means that you can even learn one or two new pieces before the jam, but you don't have to play everything, of course. It's also a great opportunity to just watch lots of beautiful pieces. It is also planned that the composers of the pieces will receive a small donation for their works as a way of expressing our appreciation and gratitude to them.

But what else is planned? In addition to the main event on Saturday, which will last 4-6 hours, there will be a Taiko session on the same day where ALL participants will drum together at the same time (a record attempt for Germany)! Then there will be a small concert in the evening followed by an after-show party, as well as a master class the day before and some workshops the following day for beginners and advanced students.

The size of the event is currently unknown, but anything from 50 to 200 participants is possible. A large triple sports hall was rented for this purpose to ensure there is enough space for the jam. All other activities will probably take place in the premises of the Dance4Art dance school, the Sandokan karate center and in the Taiko Basement.

But how much does it all cost? The tried and tested concept of "PayWhatYouWant" (pay what you want/can) will be used here again. But since there are some costs to be covered and it is generally difficult for participants to estimate this well, a "sliding scale" is used here, more precisely with three price categories:

Saturday only: Session, Jam and Concert (60/80/100Euro)

Only Sunday: 2x Workshop (60/80/100Euro) Whole weekend: (120/160/200Euro)
