COMPOSE! is a first-of-its-kind, two-and-a-half-day taiko composition workshop event, led by Kenny Endo, Erwin Oudshoorn and Jonas vom Orde. Participants develop their own taiko composition, guided and supported by some of the most experienced instructors in the field. COMPOSE! stands apart from conventional taiko workshop formats. Rather than offering a collection of separate topics, every session is part of a clearly structured and connected process. Each workshop builds on the last, leading step by step toward one goal: the creation of an original piece. Over the weekend, participants move through six focused workshops, each dedicated to a key aspect of the compositional process. These sessions are directly followed by open composition time, where the material is developed further based on the concepts just explored. During these phases, all three instructors are present and available for exchange, offering feedback, perspective, and support. Each instructor brings a distinct artistic background and compositional approach. This creates a rich and varied learning environment, allowing participants to engage with different perspectives and seek guidance that resonates with their own creative direction. On the day of arrival, the instructors and supporters of COMPOSE! will perform in a small and exclusive opening concert for participants only, followed by guided improvisation and jamming sessions for everybody to join. The event's limited capacity creates a personal and supportive atmosphere.
